Brighton & Hove Housing Coalition ("BHHC", "we", "us") is an independent, not-for-profit community coalition. Our website is housingcoalition.co.uk. Contact: info@housingcoalition.co.uk.
What data we collect
We collect the following personal data only when you voluntarily submit it to us:
- Membership registration: Name, email address, mobile number, postcode, city, member type, WhatsApp consent preference.
- Contact forms: Name, email address, message content.
- Anonymous case submissions: Only the facts of the case — no name is required and none is recorded unless you choose to provide a pseudonym.
- Join Us forms: Name, email, postcode, contact number, membership type preference.
We do not use cookies for tracking or analytics. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking scripts. The Google Translate widget is provided by Google — please see Google's privacy policy for how it handles data.
How we use your data
- To process and manage your coalition membership
- To respond to your enquiries and case submissions
- To send you coalition updates and campaign news (only with your consent)
- To add you to WhatsApp groups (only with your explicit consent)
- To maintain the security and integrity of our website
Member data (CRM)
Member registration data is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) when you register through this website. This data is held by the coalition's administrators for membership management purposes. It is not shared with third parties. You may request deletion at any time by emailing info@housingcoalition.co.uk.
Anonymous case submissions
Our Legal Portal is designed to accept case submissions without requiring any identifying information. We will never publish, share, or disclose any information that could identify a claimant or witness without their explicit written consent. This is a core commitment of the coalition.
WhatsApp groups
We may invite members to WhatsApp groups relevant to their member type. We will only add you to a WhatsApp group if you have given explicit consent during registration or by contacting us. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@housingcoalition.co.uk. WhatsApp is operated by Meta Platforms — please see WhatsApp's privacy policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to processing; and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact info@housingcoalition.co.uk.
Data retention
We retain membership data for as long as your membership is active and for up to 2 years after membership lapses, unless you request earlier deletion. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months.
Security
This website is a static site with no server-side database. Form submissions are handled via email. Member data stored via browser localStorage is held on your own device. We recommend keeping your device and browser secure.
